Willowmavin Primary School students recently took the time to plant vegetables in the school’s garden, with the help from two Bunnings representatives.
This term, the students at Willowmavin have been focusing on Biological Sciences.
Students thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity and were proud to be able to share what they had been learning in the classrooms in a real-life context.
Grade 2 student Olivia, and Foundation student Keira both enjoyed the planting experience.
“It was fun doing the planting. I liked digging the holes and pulling the roots apart,” Olivia said.
“I liked planting the seeds. We got to plant the snow pea seedlings that we grew in the mini green houses in our classroom,” Keira said.
In the coming weeks and months, the plan is for students to harvest the produce and continue to learn about sustainable food sources.
Bunnings have also donated several gardening items to support the school with its gardening initiatives.
