THIRTEEN goalkickers joined in the fun as Kilmore took a much-needed result, claiming a win by 117 points over Lalor at JJ Clancy Reserve in Northern Football Netball League division three action.
The result for the Blues keeps them in finals calculations, albeit still a game and significant percentage behind Reservoir in fifth place ahead of their second bye of the season next week.
Kilmore got off to a good start, kicking three goals in the opening 10 minutes, but missed some opportunities to increase the margin, leading 28-1 at quarter time.
After Lalor kicked the first goal of the second term to reduce the margin to 22 points, the shackles were off for the Blues, kicking six goals to put the game away in their safekeeping, with youngster Mitchell O’Dwyer in the thick of things, helping the Blues lead 66-7 at the main break.
With two goals in the opening three minutes of the third term, the Blues looked like putting together a big score, but it was another three goals in four minutes to finish the term off that allowed Kilmore to extend its lead beyond 100 points, leading 119-9 at the final change.
Rain scuppered any chance of the Blues extending their lead greatly, with just two goals in the last term, while Lalor kicked its second goal of the day late, allowing Kilmore to win 20.14 (134) to 2.5 (17).
O’Dwyer was in everything, and alongside Caleb Newport, kicked three goals apiece to lead the way for the Blues, while William O’Dwyer-Richards, Hayden Phillips, Grant Paxton, Harrison O’Dwyer-Richards and Harrison Tolar also played well.
