HORRIBLE conditions were at hand in Lancefield’s women’s match against Mt Alexander.
In a goalless first quarter, it was difficult to gain a good flow of the game due to heavy puddles and a water logged footy.
Both teams struggled to gain territory in the wet, as whenever the ball looked to roll and bounce, it wouldn’t on the mud-covered surface.
The first goal came in the second quarter when Lancefield gained a breakthrough.
Keen to rush off at half time to gain some warmth in the change rooms, the contest was still very much 50-50.
In the third, Lancefield struggled to convert kicking three points thanks to the defending of the Mt Alexander girls who were very solid deep in the backline.
With a 10-point lead at the final break the game was anyone’s to grab.

So the Tigers did exactly that, kicking two goals to close out the game and keep their opposition scoreless.
Although they couldn’t secure a point, Mt Alexander were well and truly in the game throughout, showing they can potentially get it done against one of the two better sides in the small four-team competition.
It’s a good result for the Falcons who have lost to Lancefield twice by close to 90 points both times this season.
The Tigers remain second behind Macedon and gain more experience and momentum in different conditions ahead of what looks to be a dominated finals series by the top two sides.
Molly Libardi, Emily Obrien, Luzanne de Kock, Laura Lonergan, Taleeya Robotham and Lily North were all in the best for Lancefield.
