IN the third chapter of their ice bucket relay, St Mary’s Primary School in Lancefield raised $1300 to help fight MND, and a further $1000 was donated by parent Kim Alfred on behalf of her business, Central Insurance Australia P/L.
After a short assembly last Friday, the whole school, and their families met on the astro turf for the Ice Bucket Relay.
Community and Student Engagement teacher, Jo Shannon said this year we have handed over the reins to the children.
“This generates more interest,” she said.
“There is one team of eight, consisting of student school leaders and the sports captains.
“They have selected team two for the first time, and they are nominating which parents and teachers will be in the relay.”
The relay ended with an icy cold bucket of water on the lucky last—Chris Collins.

FOR A GOOD CAUSE: Parent, Chris Collins had a chilly end to the week.
The school raised an outstanding total of $2300 with help from their community purchasing a vote for the persons they wanted to see run in the relay, and by selling Super Dooper icy poles. Students also had an out of uniform opportunity to wear their favourite beanie for a gold coin donation.
