BROADFORD had a tough outing on Saturday against Bendigo Football Netball League powerhouse Sandhurst, with a reunion of the 1996 senior premiership team a highlight of the day.
The Dragons did what they pleased as Broadford was powerless to stop the relentless midfield that has served Sandhurst well over recent years, with Sandhurst kicking 14 goals in the opening term to lead 86-0 at the first change.
Another eight goals in the second term meant the lead ballooned to over 100 points in quick time, with Sandhurst leading 142-0 at the main break.
Jayden Welch got the Kangaroos on the scoreboard for the first time for the afternoon in the third quarter from a set shot, but Sandhurst still added another 10 goals for the term as the margin was 201 points at the final change, 207-6.
Broadford did well in the final quarter to restrict Sandhurst to five goals from 15 shots at goal, while adding two goals of its own through Welch and Toby Hope, as Sandhurst eventually won 37.25 (247) to 3.0 (18).
On another tough day for the Roos, Taiten Thomas, Jay Eager, Louis Thompson, CJ Brill, Harry Behan and Hope gave their all.
The reserves score was not available at the time of production, while the under 18s lost by 121 points.
The netballers had a tough outing against a powerful Sandhurst outfit, losing 97-12 in A-grade, but B-grade was very competitive, losing 34-59. B-reserve lost 72-8, while the 17-and-under girls lost 12-67.
