NEW traffic improvements are coming to Beveridge over the coming weeks to improve safety around the growing town.

Traffic calming improvements on Whiteside Street in Beveridge are planned in response to community concerns about vehicle speeds and the impact of construction traffic in the area.

The improvements will encourage lower vehicle speeds and improve safety for all road users.

The project includes new line marking and the installation of four speed cushions at key locations along Whiteside street near Orana Boulevard, Echidna Drive, Crimson Drive and Hairstreak Drive.

Projects will be completed during the day outside of peak traffic periods and throughout the night to cause as least disruption as possible.

A new keep clear zone will also be installed at the intersection of Arrowsmith Street and the Old Hume Highway in Beveridge to improve traffic flow and address congestion issues experienced during busy periods.

Council has observed vehicles queuing through the intersection at peak times, making it difficult for drivers to turn into Arrowsmith Street and affecting the safe and efficient movement of traffic.

The keep clear zone will help maintain access through the intersection and improve traffic flow for vehicles travelling in the area.

Works are expected to take place from Monday, June 22 and are expected to be completed by Wednesday, July 15.
