Wallan continues its unbeaten streak in the RDFNL, defeating the reigning premiers by 60 points.

Sitting clear on top of the ladder, the Magpies were far too dominant for the Bombers at Riddell’s Creek Reserve on Saturday.

Wallan opened the game with the first three goals, including a double from Blaide Dickson to lead the first quarter 3-21.

Continuing their dominance, they then added the next two early in the second quarter before Darcy Locken’s opened the goals for Riddell.

Trying to fight back, the Bombers hit another major on the scoreboard, but their hard work was ruled out thanks to another two to close out the first half for the Magpies.

The Bombers fought back in the third, having six scoring shots to four but couldn’t convert well enough to get back in the game, only kicking two goals which still had them at 34 points back at the final break.

In the final term, Chris Stewart continued to add to his tally with another three goals for the day, making it eight in total.
They closed the game by kicking five goals in the last to one in response.

Looking at the stats, the Magpies dominated every general stat by some margin, which gave them control of the contest.
Nathan Hrovat was RIddell’s best with 38 disposals and nine clearances, alongside Bryce and Callum Williamson, who were standouts for the bombers as well.

Wallan’s best had to include Stewarts’ eight goals and Ben Dessent, who racked up 31 disposals, 14 marks and two direct goal assists.
The Magpies defeated the Bombers 5.10 (40) to 15.12 (102).

Over in Gisborne, the Giants were way too good for Lancefield in their 94-point win and now leaves the Tigers two games below the rest at the bottom of the ladder.

Giants gun Matt Quigley had a huge day out with 44 disposals, 11 score involvements and four goals, which would have to be up there with the performance of the year.
Another concerning performance for the Tigers in a bottom of the table clash.

The Giants won 17.16 (118) to 3.6 (24), and the reserves and under 19.5s both followed in similar fashion, having solid wins over Lancefield.

Much was the same in Riddell, with the Magpies having another dominant day in football across the grades.

In Melton South, the Romsey Redbacks were outclassed by the Panthers to continue their losing streak of now eight matches.

It was a nine-goal-to-one first quarter which gave way for the Redbacks to trail by 43 points at the first break.

The red and black went on to kick two majors in the second but Melton South were still dominant to lead the half by 52 points.

From half time, the Redbacks were then held to one more goal for the rest of the game despite having seven scoring shots.

Melton steadied out to win by 82 points in a good victory for the club, who are pushing to finish in the top four for the season.

Jack Jedwab had two majors while Corey Pertzel and Samuel Wilson were the best players for the Redbacks.

Positively, Romsey won games in under 19.5s football and the A grade netball by comfortable margins.

Wallan continued its dominance in A-grade netball as well, but Lancefield lost their game by one goal in a close finish against Gisborne.
