Mitchell Shire Council is seeking feedback on the final draft of their ANZAC Avenue Master Plan.

The plan currently includes the reinstatement of the Avenue of Honour, improved safety measures, and enhanced public spaces. Based on previous community feedback, the plan also includes maintaining the four lanes from Goulburn Street to Delatite Road to accommodate traffic and heavy vehicles.

Safety will be at the forefront of the redesign, with the intersections at Goulburn Street, Oak Street, Delatite Road, and Kobyboyn Road to be improved, and the addition of off-road shared paths along ANZAC Avenue with possible raised crossings on side streets to be included too.

114 oak trees are set to be planted, with a bike path from ANZAC Avenue to Tallarook Street via the rail bridge to be created.

Mitchell Shire Mayor Councillor Louise Bannister said the plan seeks to preserve Seymour’s heritage, and welcomed community insight into the final draft.

“The ANZAC Avenue Master Plan represents a significant step forward in preserving Seymour’s history and meeting our community’s needs,” she said.

“Your input is invaluable to this process, and I encourage everyone to participate in the consultation to help us shape a precinct that reflects our community’s diverse needs and aspirations.”
