City of Whittlesea has updated their grant funding guidelines to give residents extra time to apply for grants, and the ability to use funding for Council venue hire and the purchase of portable equipment, among other changes.
The updated Community Grants Guidelines 2024-2025 document additionally outlines what can and cannot be funded in an easy-to-read format.
Day-to-day expenses, regular activities, building projects and capital works are unable to be applied for under the grant guidelines, including venue or facility hire costing over $1500. Fireworks are also unable to be purchased using grant funding.
However, venue hire fees under $1500 are acceptable, though only 30 per cent of the given grant amount can be put towards the cost.
Facilitator and presenter fees, portable equipment, events, project materials, advertising and printing, entertainment and artist fees, and pilots for new projects and services are also acceptable.
Funding amounts depend on the grant type, with individual and unincorporated grants providing the receiver with a grant of up to $1000, while small grants can provide up to $3000, and medium and large grants can provide up to $20,000 and $40,000 respectively.
The timing of each grant depends on the type of grant, with monthly and quarterly applications currently accepted.
