THE City of Whittlesea Council is launching a new bin app allowing families to easily coordinate their waste management everyday.
The app, designed to take the guesswork out of bin day, is called Which Bin? It not only helps you know which bin to take out and when, but also allows people to set reminders, schedules and provides tips on waste-sorting between the new four-bin setup.
Mayor Councillor Lawrie Cox said the app takes the stress out of waste management.
The four-bin setup is part of the State Government’s standardised waste and recycling reforms which is continually being adopted by councils across the state.
“If you’ve ever been woken by the sound of the collection truck only to realise your bins are still not on the kerb, this app is a game changer.” Cr Cox said.
The app helps residents correctly dispose of everyday household items – from batteries and electronics through to food scraps and garden clippings. Residents can also access a personalised 12-month bin calendar and receive updates about service changes.
The app also provides quick links for residents to report missed or damaged bins and access local waste and recycling information.
The Which Bin? app is available to download for free from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. For more information visit whittlesea.vic.gov.au/binapp
