School educators and community organisations have been given access to resources, training and support through the MacKillop Seasons suite of evidence-based education programs this week in Seymour.

It focuses on building local capacity by training professionals to deliver programs that support children, young people and adults experiencing the impacts of grief, loss and change.

Following the Longwood fires that impacted communities within the Mitchell, Murrindinidi and Strathbogie shires earlier this year, many families are questioning how the children will process and recover from the trauma and disruption caused.

“We understand the initiative is fully funded through the Australian Government’s Disaster Ready Fund and supported through Natural Hazards Research Australia, making this a valuable opportunity for schools across our region.”

An online session occurred on June 19, and a in-person session is being conducted today from 9am to 3:30pm in Seymour.
