The Kilmore Art Society (KAS) hosted a sell-out workshop earlier this month, featuring award-winning artist Nina Volk.
Undoubtedly, Ms Volk’s studies in civil engineering and architecture have helped her to accurately recreate century-old buildings and intricate landscapes, while embracing the use of watercolours and her unique style.
Over the past 20 years, Ms Volk’s paintings have included the Town Hall Yea and the Murrindindi Cascades. The exquisite watercolour painting Swanston Street, Melbourne won Best in Show at the 2024 Kilmore Art Expo, and a nifty $1200 in prize money sponsored by the Kilmore Racing Club.
KAS member Jeannette Jain attended the workshop alongside 16 other artists, all in awe of Ms Volk and her impressive artistic skills.
“Colour and washes never seemed so simple,” she said.
“Even though our efforts were far from what we envisaged, we learnt a great deal about water and colour and the mixture of both.”
Since the KAS has relocated to their new studio at 15 Anvil Avenue, Kilmore, a number of workshops and award-winning artists have visited to share their expertise with both beginner and advanced artists.
KAS is delighted to announce that Ms Volk will return for another workshop on Saturday, January 18, 2025.
