Harmony Week was well celebrated throughout the district with a rage of events in all towns.
Harmony Week celebrates cultural diversity, inclusiveness, respect, and a sense of belonging for all Australians, regardless of their cultural or linguistic background.
Celebrations throughout the district included activities and events that brought people from diverse backgrounds together to celebrate and appreciate Australia’s cultural richness.
Events included a Harmony Week BBQ in Wallan last Saturday and an event hosted by the Beveridge and Kilmore Primary Schools at the Kilmore Library. A garden party was also held at the Kilmore Community Centre and the shire libraries hosted morning teas at Seymour, Broadford, Beveridge, Kilmore and Wallan.
In Macedon Ranges the communities organised cultural performances showcasing music, dance, and comedy from different cultures. The events not only entertained but also educated attendees about the diversity of cultures present in Australia.
In the City of Whittlesea, the community was invited to explore tea ceremonies and tea traditions from across the world in a unique event.
Overall, Harmony Week celebrations served as a reminder of the value of cultural diversity and the importance of fostering a harmonious society where everyone feels respected, included, and appreciated.
