YOUNG gun Walter King has secured the Lancefield Football Netball Club senior best and fairest after his dominant 2026 season. The 18-year-old was easily the best at the Tigers, averaging 24 disposals across the season and being named as the best player on the field on 12 of 16 possible times.
The Tigers took to social media to announce the winner, saying this: “Courageous, competitive and incredibly driven, the future is bright for this year’s best and fairest winner. This is a worthy victory for an incredibly stellar 2026 season, and just the beginning for a genuine star on the rise.”
Leroy Ristevski was good enough to come second in the awards night, despite only playing 10 games for the season before a serious knee injury.
Tom Sayers won their leading goalkicker award, thanks to his 25 goal season.
Molly Libardi was the best player in the women’s team which challenged until the last day of the competition before losing in the grand final.
In the A grade netball, Bridget Dobs won the best and fairest which is a great effort considering she is the youngest player on the A-grade team.
“She has been a genuine match winner for us throughout the year, producing big moments when we have needed them most. Her defensive pressure creates opportunities for the whole team and she never gives up on a contest.” Lancefield said on Facebook.
