IT has been a much better week for golf thanks to some elite weather allowing the courses in the area to dry and provide better playing fields for golf.
GOLFER OF THE WEEK
Aaron Frost takes out your Golfer of the Week this week, after a great round at Broadford’s Monthly Medal competition. He started extremely well, opening the course with -1 off the stick through the first four holes. To close out the front nine, he had a bogey and a double but still remained only two over the card. He then went with seven straight pars until he doubled the 17th par three hole at Broadford, to then close out with par, meaning he finished four over the card. A really good round for an eight handicap. Well played.
BROADFORD must be shaping up nicely thanks to the weather as they come into the better months of the year for golf. As stated, Aaron Frost (8) took out their Monthly Medal. It also had multiple 39 Stableford points on Wednesday thanks to Aaron Altham and Nathan Goodwin. Isn’t it crazy what a little bit of sun can do.
It was great to get out to HIDDEN VALLEY for a round on father’s day. 35 points wasn’t a bad day out, but it was only to come fourth on the day behind Rustem Jaljiu, Gavan McLean and Mitch Thomas who all had 36 or more. The Valley was in great condition, with fast greens and areas of the course which are starting to improve after a heap of rain from the following weeks.
KILMORE also held their Monthly Medal over the following week, which was taken out by Helen Dennett (21) on Wednesday last week, and Gordon Otene (20) with a crazy score of 66 on Saturday to win the comp.
Over in LANCEFIELD, Sam Strano (40) took out their Ladies Monthly Medal on Wednesday, narrowly avoiding Anne Robinson who was close behind her all day. On Saturday, David Morgan (13) played very steady golf to win Lancefield’s Monthly Medal, with a solid round including a birdie on the second.
ROMSEY are looking at some potential future events and changes in the upcoming weeks. They’ll meet with the Review to discuss what the future holds for the course, which could be an exciting time ahead for those in Romsey. They held a 4B Stableford Aggregate competition on Saturday, which was taken out by Dean Kohler and Jared Beswick. Shoutout to Luke Lyons, who won their Monthly Medal on August 29 as well.
