Demons win in the wet

Mernda was able to squeak out an important nine-point win over Heidelberg West that keeps the Demons in the NFNL division three finals chase.

A slug fest of a match saw just 10 goals kicked between the two sides in middy conditions at Waterview Recreation Reserve which made for some hard, tough footy.

The Demons got out to a 12-point lead at quarter time but could’ve been up by more, kicking 2.7 to 1.1.

The Hawks were able to reel Mernda back in to six points at half-time, kicking 1.7 to 1.1.Heidelberg West carried their momentum into the second half with a two goal to one third term to take a two point lead at the final break.

Mernda hung in and rallied, keeping the Hawks scoreless and booting two majors to take home the win.
