Kilmore part-owner, trainer and driver George Schembri scored success with five-year-old mare Jasperine in the O’Brien Electrical Pace over 1690 metres.
Kilmore’s massive 12-event card on Thursday was a night where long-priced winners prevailed.
Old timer Realy Under Fire led from gate four, but Jasperine, at odds of $26, was restrained from outside the frontline to settle four back.
She extricated away from the inside in the last lap to trail Hand Writer into the final bend and when asked for an effort of turning, finished full of running.
Jasperine registered a 2.2 metre margin over Hand Writer, returning a mile rate of 1-59.9. Well That’s Alright was third 3.9 metres back off a midfield trip.
Monegeeta trainer David Miles combined with Josh Duggan to land the 1690-metre Jet Roofing Pace aboard Bettors Delight-Born Again Sassy filly Hereshecomessassy in a mile rate of 1-57.
Going forward three wide from outside the front line to park outside the well-supported Rainbowsend, which had taken over from polemarker Le Belle Bijoux, Hereshecomessassy, at $11 odds, outstayed her rivals to score by a half neck from the favourite Andrew. Sweet Creation was third 8.2 metres away.
The stable made it a double with six-year-old mare Majestic Speed, priced at $2.50, was driven by the stable’s number one man Jayden Barker to score in the Worlds Best Hoof Oil Trotters Mobile over 2180 metres.
Majestic Speed proved too strong for early leaders Mystic Chip and Whos Me Mum, winning by 2.1 metres, with Luna third 7.4 metres back. The mile rate 2-06.5.
Romsey’s Chris Svanosio’s five-year-old mare Heavenly Charm snared the Beraldo Coffee Pace over 2180 metres.
Driven by stable foreman Ross Payne, Heavenly Charm settled three back along the markers from gate two after Lorimermajor crossed polemarker favourite Just As Well to lead from gate four.
After a cosy passage, Heavenly Charm, at $12 odds, used the sprint lane to blouse Lorimermajor, which moved away from the inside on the home turn and looked the winner all the way before going down by a head. Just As Well held third 3.6 metres away. The mile rate 2-01.
Bunbartha part-owner/trainer/driver John Newberry, a victim of the recent Shepparton floods, had a change of luck when seven-year-old mare Shez Elite led throughout from gate four to greet the judge in the Carlton and United Breweries Pace over 2180 metres.
Other winners on the night were Parwan owner/trainer Paul Parsons with Our Bella Lucia in the 2180-metre Buds and Branches Florist Pace; Junortoun part-owner/trainer Danny Curran won the Tellurian Wines Pace over 1690 metres with four-year-old gelding Harrywho; part-owner/trainer Julie Brimacombe, from Elliminyt near Colac, was successful with Elli Joh in the MC Security Pace over 2180 metres; Bendigo’s Roma Pocock landed the Momentum Gaming Pace over 1690 metres with Feel The Reign; Harkness part-owner/trainer Kim Procter’s Abitofadreamer won the 2180-metre Standardbreds For Breast Cancer Trials Trotters Mobile; New Gisborne trainer/driver Darren Pace was successful with Gossip Girl in thr New Life Laser Therapy 3Y0 Pace over 2180 metres; and the 2180-metre Grays Bendigo Pace went the way of Merrigum trainer Luke Bryant with Keayang Alex.
