THIS year, the City of Whittlesea will be celebrating the dedication and courage of the local emergency services at the Emergency Services Expo, featuring the 29th Annual Blessing of the Emergency Services Fleet.
Held on Saturday, October 4 from 10am to 12pm at Plenty Ranges Arts and Convention Centre (PRACC), the Expo is a free community event, celebrating the people and equipment that protects the community. Vehicles and equipment used by the Emergency Services will be blessed in a special multi-faith ceremony by faith leaders and will be attended by emergency services personnel.
Alongside this event, there will be activities for the whole family to enjoy, including free kids’ activities, a coffee van, and a sausage sizzle.
Mayor of the City of Whittlesea, Martin Taylor, said it was important to honour the bravery of first responders in the community.
“As someone who has worked and volunteered as a first responder, I know firsthand the dedication, sacrifice and courage of our emergency services personnel and I am proud to stand alongside them at this special event,” he said.
“This event is a tribute to the local heroes who put themselves on the line to keep our community safe. It is a chance to say thank you, together, as a community.
“Bring your family, bring your friends, and join us for a fun-filled morning as we honour and celebrate the people who protect our community.”
Everyone is welcome to attend and show their support to celebrate the commitment of the local emergency service workers and volunteers.
