SUCCESSFUL public trials on multiple train lines, including the Seymour line, means tap-and-go payment will now be rolled out across the state.
The public trials were carried out on the Seymour, Ballarat, Craigieburn and Upfield lines.
Last Sunday week, tap-and-go payments were activated on the Pakenham, Sunbury, Cranbourne, Gippsland and Bendigo lines, including the Metro Tunnel, as well as Frankston, Sandringham, Williamstown, Werribee and Geelong lines.
Recently, on Sunday, tap-and-go payments were introduced on the Mernda, Hurstbridge, Lilydale, Belgrave, Alamein and Glen Waverley lines, meaning customers can now tap-and-go on all train lines on the myki network.
Tap-and-go payments will also soon be available on trams and buses.
Over 88,500 tap-and-go trips were monitored since trials began in March, with four in five involving a phone or smartwatch.
Minister for Public and Active Transport Gabrielle Williams said there would be peace of mind for all Victorian travellers.
“Victorians are already saving money with half-price fares. Now we’re making public transport easier to use too,” she said.
“Tap and go means one less card in your wallet and one less thing to worry about on your journey.”
