SEVERAL major works along the Inland Rail corridor between Wandong and Seymour are set to progress throughout August, with residents advised to expect ongoing disruptions and traffic changes as construction activities ramp up.
Early works will commence on Thursday, August 7, with contractor John Holland carrying out road realignment and utility relocations in Wandong. These works are part of preparations for the next stage of bridge construction in the area.
Along Broadford-Wandong Road, concrete barriers will be installed to support safety during construction. Additional works in Wandong will include the construction of piling pads, pavement upgrades and drainage improvements. A long-term shuttle flow traffic system will also be implemented on Epping-Kilmore Road to manage vehicle movement during construction.
In Broadford, activity will continue across several key locations throughout August, including Marchbanks Road, Short Street and Hamilton Street.
On Hamilton Street, works will include approved tree and vegetation removal, embankment stabilisation, and drainage improvements. Preparatory activity for crane pad installation is also underway, along with construction of new access roads connecting to the Hume Freeway on-ramp.
Bridge foundation and abutment works on Short Street will progress, with the area also seeing crane setups and the delivery of large structural beams. To accommodate this, long-term temporary traffic changes and detours will be introduced, including roadworks at the intersection of Burges Lane and Cameron Parade to support the detour route.
A new shared use path will also be built alongside the existing Hamilton Street bridge, improving pedestrian and cyclist access once works are complete.
Further north in Seymour, works will focus on the relocation of existing utility and signalling services. Access tracks will be upgraded and construction materials delivered to support upcoming stages of the Inland Rail project in the area.
All works across the corridor are scheduled to run from 7am to 6pm on weekdays and 7am to 1pm on Saturdays throughout August.

Meanwhile, a major project milestone was achieved last week, with the first girders successfully installed on the new Hamilton Street bridge in Broadford. The installation was completed early on Monday morning, marking significant progress in the bridge replacement program.
Residents are encouraged to stay informed about ongoing changes and detours, with further updates to be provided as works continue.
