THERE is a callout to residents who are interested in Beveridge’s natural environment following plans to establish a Beveridge Environment Group.
A community meeting is being held to discuss forming a new environmental volunteer group in the town.
Upper Merri Landcare Facilitator, Chris Coburn, said that the new group could have a focus on community environmental education and enhancing the environmental values of public land areas in Beveridge.
“For example, it could organise environmental activities such as community tree planting days, nature and bird watching walks, frog nights, spotlighting for native wildlife and litter clean-ups,” Mr Coburn said.
“The Beveridge area has some special and significant natural vegetation and areas of public open space, such as Beveridge Recreation Reserve and The Crest Conservation Reserve.”
The meeting will be held on Thursday, May 15 at 6pm at the Beveridge Community Centre.
Mr Coburn has urged all residents to come along to the community meeting to meet other like-minded locals to discuss what environmental issues are important.
