MACEDON Ranges Shire Council is preparing for the shock change of Mayor as Kate Kendall makes a bold career move ahead of the November election.
Kendall announced the decision on Friday stating that she’s very proud of her actions over the last eight months, but believes it’s time to grab a new oppurtunity.
“Serving as Mayor has been one of the greatest honours of my life. I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved together over the past eight months, working alongside my fellow councillors, Council staff and our wonderful community.” She wrote on social media.
Kendall will be standing as a Liberal candidate in the upcoming election, and state opposition leader, Jess Wilson was excited about it.
Wilson took to social media to announce it saying “Macedon locals know Victoria needs a fresh start, and with Kate Kendall on my team, we will deliver it.”
Kendall will remain a councillor for the shire and will hand over her role on Friday, July 24.
“Over the coming week, I will work closely with the CEO, Deputy Mayor, my fellow councillors and Council staff to ensure a smooth transition of mayoral responsibilities.” she said.
