OUTMUSCLED is the perfect way of describing the Kilmore senior women’s win on the weekend against West Preston Lakeside.
The Blues were strong enough and although trailed at quarter time, they came out to dominate the second quarter with the wind to lead at half time 30-13.
Chloe Talbot and Emma Pyle were strong for Kilmore early down forward, kicking 3.3 between them, and Chiara Nardo was dominant when the ball was in her hands looking a class above.
The Blues copped a shock in the third term, conceding three goals to let the opposition back in it, and only scoring two points themselves leaving the score at 32-31 at the final break.
The final quarter, with all to play for and a potential lock in spot for third place, Kilmore had the wind, allowing them to be dominant throughout the term.
West Preston came out to kick the first two scores of the quarter, but couldn’t convert them into majors, allowing the Blues an inch which they took through Talbot down forward, kicking both majors for the quarter and securing a huge win leaving the scores at 45-34.
The win locks in a third place spot for Kilmore with one game remaining until finals, where they are set to most likely play the Fitzroy Stars, who they played last year twice in the finals.
Zahra Kelly, Talbot, Sienna Shinners, Nicole Bauce, Ella Stewart and Nardo were named the best players for the Blues and will be needed at their best in a couple of weeks time.
Out at Thomastown, Wallan continued it’s struggles losing by 24 points in division three.
They went through the game goalless losing 27-3 and continue to sit a game clear on the bottom of the ladder behind Darebin 2 but face St Mary’s 2 next week who sit second on the ladder and will be fighting for a top spot.
Nicole Evans, Hannah Paton, Jessica Hort, Shannyn Powell, Charlie Rice and Kaylah Sanders were all named in the best for Wallan in their defeat.
