The Seymour Blasters Men kept the momentum at Saturday’s game against the Mansfield Eagles, determined to leave it all on the court in round five of the Country Basketball League (CBL).

Following their previous away game, where the side took the fall against the Wodonga Wolves, round five was a crucial opportunity for redemption and a chance to show impressive skill and teamwork in the North East Men category.

Supporters were treated to an incredible game at the Seymour Sports and Aquatic Centre, witnessing the Blaster’s impressive performance and fierce determination throughout the four quarters.

Making an impact all round, Seymour’s William Stewart started the scoring contributions for the side by giving two points, followed by Jack Murphy who quickly added another three on the scoreboard.

Mansfield managed to secure two points during Seymour’s scoring efforts, but from that moment on, it was all Seymour as the side dominated the scoring, concluding the first quarter 27–2.

Seymour’s Patrick Green was a top contributer in the first quarter, producing several baskets.

Luck was on Seymour’s side, as the second quarter mirrored the first, with the Blasters continuing to outpace Mansfield.

By the end of the quarter, the Blasters had already surpassed the 50-point mark, adding an impressive 31 points to their total, while the Mansfield Eagles struggled to keep up, with only seven points to give.

Mansfield scored first at the start of the third quarter, but a strong response from the Blasters kept the momentum firmly on their side, producing back-to-back hoops with a few two-pointers in between from the Eagles.

Seymour’s Callum Stojanovic wrapped up the third quarter with a strong performance, contributing to a commanding score of 86–21.

The last quarter was kinder to the Mansfield Eagles, with the side able to score more baskets in the finale than earlier in the match.

Meanwhile, the Blaster’s luck continued, with the team making their way to secure more points with precision.

Murphy’s three-pointer pushed the team past the 100-point mark in the fourth quarter, following another long-range shot that helped Seymour reach triple digits.

In between the time Seymour surpassed triple digits and the game concluded in their favour, Mansfield kept slowly adding to their own score, adding another two points on the scoreboard before totalling 21 points overall.

In less than 50 seconds, the match saw Stewart slam the last two points for the Blasters, sealing a commanding 114–42 victory.

Green topped the scores with 21 points, followed by Stewart with 20 points, and the Blasters had six players score double figures.

After an impressive game from all players, Seymour will play at home again this Saturday at 6pm against the Albury Cougars at the Seymour Sports and Aquatic Centre.

The Panthers Women will return from a bye to play against the Shepparton Gators at midday on Sunday, with the Wallan Panthers Men following suit to play the men’s side shortly after at 2pm.
