BOTH Lancefield and Romsey have taken huge defeats in their Round 10 clashes in the RDFL this week against the top two sides.

Lancefield’s opening quarter saw it concede nine goals to none which instantly shut them out of the game.

Wallan once again proved why they deserve the top spot on the league ladder.

They continued to dominate all day in the muddy conditions at Lancefield Park, beating the Tigers by 110 points.

Lachlan Smart kicked seven for the day, alongside Blaide Dickson and Dion Hill who both kicked another four.

In positive signs for the Tigers, Hunter Jenkins secured three of his own in their total of six goals.

The home teams best players included Walter King, Jordan Watkins, Ben Sankey, Riley O’Meara, Hunter Jenkins and Leroy Ristevski.

Wallan’s best saw Lachlan Smart, Nash King, Blaide Dickson, Riley Gilchrist, Kobey Christall and Corey Salvador all feature.

The Tigers were defeated 6.5 (41) to 23.13 (151).

The Magpies under-19.5s team and reserves also dominated, both winning by over 70 points respectively, and in the netball, it was a top of the table clash in the A-grade, which saw the Magpies win by six goals in a 43-49 clash.

Down the road, Romsey took on second placed Diggers Rest in another blowout for the club.

A five goal to one first quarter started Diggers Rest strong away from home, but the Redbacks showed more of their colours in the second, kicking four goals of their own alongside the Burras to stay in it.

But it was a premiership quarter blitz which shut the game out, featuring eight goals going the way of Diggers Rest to only three Romsey goals.

The Burras then went on to cruise home in the last to win by 81 points in a statement to the top of the table Wallan, who only beat the Redbacks by four goals last week in similar conditions.

Nathan Blair, Samuel Wilson, Corey Pertzel, Jack Jedwab, Matt Burkett and Judd Rademaker were all named in the Redbacks best.

They were defeated 10.7 (67) to 22.16 (148)

The reserves showed some positive signs, scoring four goals in one of their better games for the year so far.

They were still defeated by 54 points but showed a bit more fight in comparison to last week.

In a positive note for Romsey, the A-grade netballers found their feet securing their first win for the season.
