LOVE In Action co-founder Jeremy Scrivens has passed away, with the Wallan and wider community grieving his passing with widespread tributes.
Mr Scrivens founded Love In Action Wallan in 2016 alongside Susan Scrivens, giving back to the community after receiving help throughout their son’s brain cancer journey.
The duo started helping six families doing it tough with food and essential items and have now enlisted friends and volunteers to help over 300 families per year.
Mr Scrivens fought against Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis lung disease.
On LinkedIn, daughter Sarah Brewer paid tribute to his connections and relationships.
“My dad was immensely proud of the connections and relationships he built through this platform. He valued the opportunity to engage with like-minded people from around the world who shared his passion for the future of work, strengths-based engagement, honouring talent and kindness at work,” she said.
“I would like to sincerely thank each and every one of you who reached out, supported him, and followed his journey. I am incredibly proud of the legacy he leaves behind. His articles, videos, and insights will continue to inspire, motivate, and educate people for years to come.
“A number of people have asked whether there is a way to make a donation in Dad’s honour. One of his greatest legacies, alongside his professional work, is the charity he started with my mum, Love in Action Wallan. Each year, the charity supports hundreds of families facing difficult circumstances.”
A further post in the Love In Action Wallan Community Group Facebook page highlighted how much the community meant to Mr Scrivens.
“Jeremy fought this horrible disease with dignity, courage and bravery through incredible suffering and pain,” Ms Brewer said.
“We don’t yet have the words to express just how much we love him or how deeply he will be missed.
“What an incredible legacy he has left, and he has made a positive impact on everyone. He always made a point of having a conversation with people and letting them know what a good job they were doing and how proud of our community’s kindness.”
Member for McEwen Rob Mitchell said he was ‘truly saddened’ by Mr Scrivens’ passing.
“I am heartbroken by the loss of such a brilliant human. A gentleman of humility and wisdom, someone whose deep thinking was only matched by his generosity, compassion and human spirit,” he said.
“Jeremy was a rare gift to this world. He inspired, uplifted and set challenges for everyone around him.
“He gave so much of his knowledge and kindness to others.
“You only need to spend a moment with his writings to see the power this man possessed and his genuine desire for a better community.”
The Rotary Club of Southern Mitchell also paid tribute to Mr Scrivens.
“The Rotary Club of Southern Mitchell send their deepest condolences to Sue, Sarah and the extended Scrivens family. We have been so proud to support Jeremy’s wonderful work through Love In Action. He leaves an amazing legacy and will not be forgotten,” they wrote.
