WALLAN’S Go-Kan-Ryu (GKR) Karate Dojo had an incredible GKR Karate World Cup campaign in Telford, England, bringing home a suite of medals, including a returning world champion.
Wallan local Allanah Collett is now a two-time world champion, adding to her incredible resume, as well as taking home two silver medals across the championships.
Ms Collett took home gold in the 14–15-year-olds Kumite 3rd Kyu+ class, while also taking home second place in the Kata class.
GKR Karate Wallan wrote about her achievements on social media.
“Congratulations to Allanah Collett from our Wallan Dojo, who became world champion on several categories in GRK Karate World Cup tournament in the UK! What an amazing effort! Well done,” they wrote.
As a Wallan Secondary School student, her school was quick to praise Ms Collett on her achievements.
“Wallan Secondary College is incredibly proud to congratulate Year 9 student Allanah Collett on her outstanding success at the World Karate Championships in the United Kingdom,” they wrote.
“Competing against some of the world’s best athletes, Allanah once again demonstrated her exceptional skill, determination and dedication by retaining her title as World Champion.
“To defend a World Championship title is an extraordinary achievement and is a testament to Allanah’s countless hours of training, resilience and commitment to her sport.
“Congratulations, Allanah, on representing yourself, your family, your club and Wallan Secondary College with such distinction. We are incredibly proud of everything you have achieved and look forward to following your continued success both on and off the world stage.”
Ms Collett also achieved a silver medal in the Team Kumite category for 14-17-year-olds in the 4th Kyu and above.
In the same championships, Pyalong local Shaeedyn Gray was also successful, claiming a bronze medal in the 14-15-year-old Up to 6th Kyu Kumite category.
GKR Karate Wallan wrote about Ms Gray’s achievements.
