GOLFER OF THE WEEK
A solid couple of scores around the courses in some tough conditions on both Wednesday and Saturday. Kilmore’s Mario Maddalena takes this weeks golfer of the week thanks to his two wins from Wednesday and Saturday including the Monthly Medal at Kilmore. Some great rounds in the tough conditions from Mario, earning him our first Golfer of the Week.

COVERING THE FAIRWAYS

Broadfords Wednesday comp was the first of three rounds for their annual winter classic. Victored by Tom Richards (12 H/C) who finished with +2 in the format. A wet and windy 80 with nine pars helped him win the comp against 36 people on the day. Next wednesday looks ahead to the second round, which is a stroke format.

Hidden Valley’s Wednesday stableford winner took the day by 5 shots. Brent Sullivan (20 H/C) recorded a 40 pointer on a wet day in the Valley. His four pars in a row to close out the front nine settled him for 20 points on the front. Even holding his nerve on one of the hardest holes in golf, the 18th at Hidden, parring out to win the comp.

Kilmore held their Women’s Monthly medal on Wednesday. Dianne Dixon (29 H/C) took that home with a 75 Nett in the 10 player filled competition. Par’s on 10 and 11 set her back nine up perfectly to take home the win. Mario Maddalena (13 H/C) took home the Wednesday Stableford comp with a cruisy 38 points, including nine pars.

Lancefield Golf Club held their Tuesday Legends Stroke competition, which saw a Nett 73 win the comp by Shuffles McBride (21 H/C).

THE WEEKEND ROUNDUP

Broadford held a mixed stableford which was taken out by Troy Ford (19 H/C) with 38 points. Troy’s round had a birdie and four pars in a row on the back nine all for 3 points or more which was enough to secure him the win. They look forward to their Hendo Memorial Day next week and teh second round of the winter classic on wednesday.

Hidden Valley held a stoke competition on Saturday which was taken out by Gareth Hughes (12 H/C) who had a nett 71. A couple of birdies and some very consistant golf helped him take the win for the day. Certainly some good golf played at Hidden on Saturday with multiple plus handicaps and low single fingures playing out there.

Kilmore was looking forward to their Monthly Medal on Saturday, Mario Maddalena was successful again taking the medal home after a nett 70. What a week for him as he takes our golfer of the week.

Gary Dudderidge (12 H/C) took out Lancefield’s stableford competition with a 36 pointer. Not an overly big field due to the weather, but Gary was still good enough to play consistant golf in the tough conditions.

Romsey’s Saturday Ambrose saw Dylan Harris (5) and Jai Martinuzzo (26) take the win with a three birdie +1. The pair parred the last eight holes in a row which is impressive at a tough course in wet conditions. Small shoutout to Jai who i know for a fact got carried in that paring. you know what they say, don’t hate the player, hate the game.

Overall it looked like a lot of average scores on a good day which helps describe the weather that these players were playing against. Still beats a day in the office!
