A CANVAS in the shape of a cow arrived at a local art studio for students to decorate across Christmas, and although the project is far from finished, the story so far is about making beauty a reality.
Once the cow, with no name is completed, ‘she’ will become a front yard feature at the studio in Wandong, a testament to the talents and confidence of students participating.
Three Brushes Studio owner Sharon Delaney said: “We want it to be a showcase of ideas, a talking point of what is and what could be. The cow has something to say. Art can really be anything, and it is beautiful.”
The youngest artist is 10-year-old Grace and her contribution, a Cuban-style bird, was completed on January 19.
Other students have made their mark by turning their hand to reproducing masterpieces by some of the world’s most acclaimed artists, including Grant Wood’s oil painting American Gothic, and to tie the project together there will be jigsaw puzzle pieces painted in between.
“We wanted the puzzles pieces to represent that all art fits together, all types of art are enjoyable … every art piece connects people to feelings, and to think about what they see. It connects us all in lots of ways,” Mrs Delaney said.
So, will the cow have a name?
“We will be having a competition to name her when classes start back,” Mrs Daleny said.
“We’re not sure if we will have some names picked and get these names voted on or to just get students’ suggestions and see if there’s something amazing.”
The cow will be sealed with a UV protective coating once all the artwork is complete and the Three Brushes Studio will have a community installation day to mark the occasion.
