EVAN KNOWS HIS JOB

There are really good operators at Kilmore Wellness Centre, including podiatrist Evan Milovanovic, who takes pride in his trade and people like his outgoing, friendly personality.

Born in the city to parents Micky and Andie, Evan has a sister Ivy. Evan attended primary and secondary school in Craigieburn and has happy memories of his schooldays, including meeting his partner Nat. He enjoys his work and life in general, with several hobbies and interests such as travelling with Nat, visiting different restaurants, and following sport.

An Essendon fan, he was hoping the Bombers would make this year’s finals. He also follows Liverpool in the English Premier League and has been a fan of tennis player Novak Djokovic. Evan has also assisted the Greenvale FC with fitness and conditioning. People who have influenced his life include his folks, partner, cousin Joel, and grandparents from both sides of the family. He had varied life experience from a young age – a brief stint at Red Rooster, a waiter during his latter school years, a warehouse labourer at Toll prior to university, and a technician at Athletes Foot during university. Hence his career as a podiatrist in Kilmore, Evan enjoys his workplace, the staff and his clients.

A really personable guy himself, Evan lists Natalie and cousin Joel among his best pals. As life moves on, he just hopes to provide value to those around him.

What better place to meet people you haven’t seen for some time than ‘down the town’. It was good last week to briefly encounter Vicki Brown and Ken Daniels. Many Kilmore residents will recall Vicki as the very reliable ‘cycling postie’. Vicki and Jimmy have produced three fine daughters, each of whom is progressing well in life and are a credit to themselves and their folks. Their dad Jimmy is a knockabout good guy. Vicki told me she walks 10 kilometres each day and she is as fit as she was in her ‘postie’ years. A workmate of Vicki’s is Carlton legend Bruce Doull, whom she describes as ‘the nicest person you could ever meet’.

Ken Daniel, for a long time, was the very efficient secretary of the Seymour and District Cricket Association (SDCA). He worked hard and saw the SDCA peak in his time with 13 clubs and three divisions. Now with the move of Eastern Hill, Kilmore, and Broadford clubs to the very large Gisborne CA, the Seymour competition is now comprised of seven clubs and two divisions. Hopefully it will continue to provide the region with the traditional summer game for a long time to come.

Andrew Hiscok, a member of the long established Willowmavin family, is a good young man. A High Camp resident, he really enjoys playing cricket for Pyalong which fields two teams. Andrew said it was a great club with good people. Generational names Zoch and Ryan are prominent. Andrew is a leg-spinner but not quite as good as the legendary Shane Warne. He told me, ‘I don’t turn the ball as much.’

Bill Brownless paid a quick visit the other day on his way north for a speaking engagement. A media star since his Geelong playing days (198 games and 441 goals), at Assumption College Kilmore in 1984, Bill kicked 155 goals. Later his brothers Blair and Anson also each kicked the ‘ton for the dark and light blues.

NOT MUCH AT THE ‘G’

It looks like the MCG will be largely idle this September with possibly only one or two finals at the famous venue. With five interstate sides in the top eight, Sydney, Adelaide, GWS, and Brisbane could be hosting games. Who will be premiers? It’s almost a raffle with whoever turns up on the day.

FIFTEEN YEARS ON

Captained by Euroa lad Brendan Allen with deputy Daniel Talia (who played over 200 games for Adelaide Crows), the side won the A.G.S.V title and won a thrilling shield grand final against St Pat’s Ballarat at the M.C.G. Dion Prestia who has played in Richmond’s premiership teams in recent years was also a key member of the 2009 team.
