The date of the 3G Network closure has been extended.
While Telstra and Optus were set to close their 3G networks at the end of August and September respectively, last week both telecommunication providers announced that they would be pushing the closing date to October 28, giving 3G users more time to organise a new device.
Member for Euroa Annabelle Cleeland offered her assistance to the public for the upcoming change, stating that the closures would improve the remaining 4G and 5G networks.
“The extension will mean that by October 28, 3G users will need to be ready to change to 4G and 5G networks,” she said.
“If you currently own a 3G only device, they will no longer work after the date specified above. This could impact your phone, tablet, medical devices, security systems, and other devices, so it is crucial that you are prepared beforehand.
“Although this may be inconvenient for many, I hope to see improvements in the network for our regional communities that already suffer from unreliable coverage.
