Member for Euroa Annabelle Cleeland is encouraging Returned Soldier Leagues (RSLs) across the region to apply for the latest round of grants to assist with restoring war memorials and facilities.
Grants of up to $30,000 (excluding GST) are available to conserve, maintain, or change war memorials, honour rolls, and avenues of honour to better reflect local veteran service.
Ms Cleeland said she was willing to assist with a letter of support for eligible projects.
“In recent months, I have been contacted by local groups looking to restore local cenotaphs, as well as upgrade their RSL facilities,” she said.
“With many of our cenotaphs, memorials, and RSL facilities still feeling the impact of storm and weather damage, these grants are a useful option for some necessary repairs or restorations.
“Our veterans and military history are a crucial part of our region, and I highly encourage any organisation needing upgrades to look into these grants.”
Applications close Monday, February 3. For more information, visit www.vic.gov.au/veterans-capital-works-grant-program and www.vic.gov.au/restoring-community-war-memorials-and-avenues-honour.
