More than $330,000 in community grants have been allocated to senior citizen groups, community groups, sporting groups, non-profit and individuals in the latest City of Whittlesea Community Grants Program.
The Community Grants program provides grants to help the community deliver programs, activities, events, as well as supporting individuals in leadership, creative arts, sports, or environmental initiatives.
The following community groups and organisations have been awarded grants this quarter:
Mill Park Football Association for new equipment
Hunted the Interactive Horror Experience for Dark Lake – Origins
SalamFest for Arts & Tails Unveiled and the Contemporary Muslim Festival
Whittlesea Chinese Association for Chinese New Year
Epping RSL Sub-Branch for ANZAC Day Dawn Service
Victorian Tamil Association for a cultural event
City of Whittlesea chair administrator Lydia Wilson said the program enabled important financial support to the community for activities and events.
“We are thrilled to be able to support our community and those individuals and groups working hard to organise ways to bring people together to celebrate, learn and get involved,” she said.
“In this quarter, we are proud to have provided funding to 73 senior citizen groups totalling $271,116.45, as well as grants to four individuals and seven groups or organisations, with funding ranging from $200 – $12,500.
“We are excited to have so many community-led events and programs and we look forward to continuing to support our community through this ongoing grants program.”
Applications for small and individual grants are assessed monthly and free online grant writing workshops are held regularly to help applicants prepare.
