Burglaries at businesses

A jewellery store in the mall in Station Street, Seymour, was burgled at 2.59am on Saturday, after an unknown offender forced their way into the store.

The offender gained entry by breaking the front glass doors with a metal pole and smashing multiple display cabinets, stealing an unknown amount of assorted jewellery.

Another burglary occurred in Seymour shortly after, at 4.25am, at a petrol station in Anzac Avenue, Seymour.

The offender forced entry by using a rock, and stole two two-litre bottles of milk and four 1.25-litre Coca Cola bottles.

The offender was then seen on CCTV approaching the counter before being disturbed by an alarm. The offender then fled the scene.

Also, on Saturday, a café in Powlett Street, Kilmore, was broken into.

Offenders gained entry via smashing a side window and then stealing cash from the till.

Between 20 and 30 bottles of juice, valued at about $120, were also stolen.

Criminal damage

Offenders attended a vehicle parked on Pretty Sally Drive, Wallan at about 2am on Sunday, where they either threw or placed a jerry container near the vehicle.

The vehicle did not explode and there were no injuries.

Theft of plates

The rear number plate affixed to a vehicle parked on McIntyre Street, Seymour was stolen between 9am and 5pm on Friday.=

Unknown offenders also stole a rear number plate affixed to a vehicle parked at hospital in Avenel on Saturday.

Police are seeing the removal and theft of number plates on the rise.

Police urge the community to ensure their plates are affixed securely by installing one-way anti-theft screws on their vehicles, which can prevent number plates being stolen and used for further crimes.
