Police updates from around Mitchell Shire

Thefts

Overnight on January 31, six sheep were stolen from a property on Wallan-Whittlesea Road, Upper Plenty. Two vehicles were seen in the area – but no description was provided to police.

Overnight on February 3, an unknown offender stole a green Mongoose BMX bike from the front yard of a house in Lauriston Place, Wallan.

Criminal damage

At about 2.45am on February 11, unknown offenders threw two rocks through a person’s bedroom window causing it to smash at a house in Wellington Street, Wallan.

Torches were seen outside the property but no description of offenders was provided to police.

Burglary

Between 9am and 5pm on February 2, unknown offenders entered a property in Wallara Waters Boulevard, Wallan by cutting the mesh screen to the back door.

Once inside the offenders ransacked the house, stealing a laptop computer, valued at $300, before leaving through the same door.

Drug warrant

Kilmore police executed a drug warrant at a house in Simone Street, Kilmore on February 9, where they located several cannabis plants.

A 44-year-old man was arrested and conveyed to Kilmore Police Station where he was interviewed, and charged with cultivating and possessing a drug of dependence.

He was bailed to the Seymour Magistrates Court later this year.

Cannabis discovered

Police from Seymour Divisional Tasking Unit and Mitchell Criminal Investigation Unit executed a search warrant at an address in Sugarloaf Creek on February 3.

Officers seized about 290 cannabis plants, an assortment of prohibited weapons and other drugs of dependence.

A man, 46, was arrested at the scene.

He was charged with cultivating a large commercial quantity of cannabis, weapon possession offences and possession of other drugs.

The man was refused bail and remanded into custody to appear at Shepparton Magistrates Court in May.

Remove it, lock it or lose it

Over the past few months, police have received several reports of thefts of wallets or valuables from unlocked vehicles. Police remind residents that they should never leave valuables in their vehicle and always make sure their vehicle is locked.
