WALLAN and Seymour had similar results across the board as the Country Basketball League season approaches the halfway mark.

Seymour opened the weekend with a trip to Shepparton for both its men’s and women’s teams.

In the women’s game, Seymour looked good to take victory after a strong first half, leading 14-10 at the opening change, and extending the lead to 31-18 at the main break.

However, whatever was said at half time in the Shepparton change rooms did the trick, as the Gators came out and reduced the lead to just five points at the final change, before outscoring Seymour 21-12 to take a 59-55 victory.

Marley Pascoe and Justine Walker scored 14 points apiece to lead the way for Seymour.

The men followed, and it was a whitewash from the Blasters, who dominated from go-to-whoa in taking a 54-point victory.

The Blasters led by 15 at the first change, extended the lead to 25 at the main break and 38 by the final change, before going on to take a 99-45 victory.

Tyler Best continued his scoring spree with 22 points, while Harry Stones and Jack Murphy scored 13 points apiece.

Wallan hosted Echuca at RB Robson Stadium on Sunday, with the women starting proceedings.

It was a very tight contest in the first half, with Wallan leading by a point at the first change, before Echuca levelled the scores at half time, 30-all.

Echuca shot away in the third quarter to open up a six-point lead at the final change, 49-43, and despite Wallan asking questions in what was a defensive last term, Echuca held on to win 57-52.

Carley Cranston led all scorers for Wallan with 15 points, while Roisin Kerr added 12.

Wallan’s men remain undefeated, running away with the game in the second half to defeat Echuca by 15 points.

Both teams engaged in a tough battle throughout the first half, with Wallan leading 26-23 at the first change, and holding on to a 46-44 lead at half time.

The Panthers increased their lead slightly in the third quarter, leading 67-62 at the final change, before Wallan bolted with the game in the last term to score 26 points to 16 to win 93-78.

Rhylee Leighton was dominant, scoring 27 points, while Jayden O’Brien and Ryan Philippe scored 16 apiece.

Both teams face a double-header this weekend, with Wallan travelling to Albury, while Seymour host Benalla and Swan Hill on Saturday night.

On Sunday, a showdown between Wallan and Seymour will be held at RB Robson Stadium.
