THE Wallan Community Garden was successfully launched on Tuesday afternoon, bringing together the chance to connect, collaborate and access fresh produce.
The garden is located at the Wallan Neighbourhood House, and was funded through the Mitchell Shire Council’s Nourishing Neighbourhoods program.
Residents in Wallan and surrounding suburbs will now have a chance to grow and pick out fresh produce, as well as connect socially.

Mitchell Shire Councillor Bob Cornish was represented at the launch.
The Nourishing Neighbourhoods program is also funded by VicHealth’s Local Partnerships Food First, which is a three-year grant program which is partnered by Mitchell and Murrundindi Councils and delivers community-led initiatives.
Other programs which are upcoming are the monthly Produce, Seed and Garden Swap at the Kilmore Community House, and the Meet a Farmer event on November 21 in Upper Plenty.
