BROADFORD are continuing to experience tough learning lessons in the Bendigo Football Netball League, losing to South Bendigo by 207 points on the weekend at Harry Trott Reserve.
It was an incredibly tough afternoon for the Kangaroos, who were left goalless in the opening three quarters.
South Bendigo opened up a 66-point lead at the first change, before adding another nine goals in the second term to crack open the 100-point barrier by half time, leading 122-1.
The Bloods added six more goals in the third quarter, leading 161-2 at the final change.
There was some slight respite for the Roos as they managed their only goal of the afternoon through Harry Behan in the last quarter, but it wasn’t enough to prevent South Bendigo from winning 33.17 (215) to 1.2 (8).
Louis Thompson, Owen Sloan, Adam Miles, Behan, Sebastian Morris and Frazer McMahon gave their all.
The reserves had a dip but were powerless to stop South Bendigo from kicking nine final quarter goals, losing 150-29, while the under 18s put together a good first quarter before the class of South Bendigo showed, eventually winning 116-22.
On the netball court, A-grade lost 21-88, while B-grade showcased its continued improvement, losing 42-59. B-reserve lost 15-60, while the 17-and-under team lost 14-72.
The Kangaroos will have to face up to premiership contender Strathfieldsaye this week in their second-last home game at Harley Hammond Reserve this season.
