THE Tallarook Plateau successfully hosted the Victorian Rogaining Championships across Friday and Saturday, marking the 50th anniversary of the sport.
Over 500 competitors took to the Plateau, with the course covering 100 square kilometres with 66 checkpoints.
Many of the elite teams completed nearly all the checkpoints across the 24-hour event, while families and younger teams enjoyed the outing, with a six-hour Rogaine also offered, finishing on Friday night.
The organisational team says pack up and tidying of the site is progressing well, but some work will also continue on private property and the Tallarook State Forest across the next fortnight.
Community liaison Neil Phillips said he was grateful for the community support.
“We are very grateful to the landowners and others in the community who have supported the event through access to their land, logistical assistance, advice and simple encouragement. A fuller report will follow once the site tidy up is complete, and the volunteers have a good sleep,” he said.
