MICK Marrett has been awarded the Football Person of the Year through OKR FM for 2026, beating out a quality field of nominees.
Marrett overcame personal trauma, contributing as an assistant coach to start 2026, then stepping up to become caretaker coach from round 7 onwards. He was rewarded with a two-year deal at the end of the season. His courage as a player has translated into his coaching, focusing on the development of a young player who the group looks up to immensely.
Marrett beat out a quality field, including Kilmore president Leigh Irons, Broadford president Bonnie Cavanagh-Welch, Wallan’s Helen Mahoney and Daniel Nolan.
