SEYMOUR trainer Melissa Page enjoyed a satisfying win with the consistent gelding Tookay Pete when he saluted the judge in race six at Yarra Valley Racing track last Tuesday.
The six-year-old gelding has had 13 starts for Page and has put together a record of three wins, three seconds and two thirds.
Page said: “The horse appears quite annoyed if he doesn’t win and he gives his all in his race day appearances”.
Jockey, Emily Pozman was interviewed after the race and said: “It helps when you get on these horses that try so hard”.
At the Healesville meeting on Saturday, in race two Frostration took out the 0-28 handicap 1000 metre race in the hands of Rowan Cox and in race four, The Village Fox took out the trophy 1 1650 metre race in the hands of Shaun Cooper.
The Village Fox won his maiden recently at Merton on New Years Day after being in the stable of Seymour trainer Don Dwyer for only a week highlighting the opportunity picnic racing gives to horses who don’t quite make the grade at professional racing.
These horses can earn their keep, develop confidence and give their connections a thrilling day out at the races.
