CONSTRUCTION is under way at the Broadford Primary School with upgrades to their arts and science building as well as a new administration building.

The $13.7 million boost is a huge upgrade for the Broadford community, and a positive result for the Mitchell Shires education.

State Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes announced the project saying the communities deserve elite facilities.

“Only Labor is delivering state-of-the-art learning facilities for the regions, with 30 per cent of our investment in school upgrades going to rural and regional Victoria.”

The Primary schools former library and performing arts building are being demolished to make way for the new buildings.

In other great news for the small town, the Broadford Secondary School is also in the planning stage for a new double-storey STEM building.

“This is about more than new buildings – it’s about giving kids in Broadford world-class opportunities close to home,” Ms Symes said.

In the Victorian Auditor-General’s latest audit of State schools across the Mitchell Community, the Broadford Primary School was rated the poorest in terms of condition, scoring 3.18 out of five.

The Secondary College was not far behind, considered ‘worn’ with a score of 3.38.

It’s a good result and potential look at a brighter, more modernised future for Broadford.
