ROUND two of the Country Basketball League saw Wallan host its opening home game of the season, while Seymour also hosted a pair of home games.

Wallan’s men provided plenty of entertainment as it continued its unbeaten run, scoring an 80-65 win over Wodonga.

The Panthers made a good start to lead by six points at the first change, and extended their break to nine points by half time, but a 19-12 run in the final term ensured the Panthers would come away with the win at RB Robson Stadium.

Lachlan Lombardo had an entertaining night, providing plenty of highlights on the offensive and defensive end to lead the way with 16 points, while Jordan Smith scoring 14 points, Jayden O’Brien added 11 and Ryan Phillippe added 10.

Seymour hosted Echuca and won every quarter at the Seymour Sports and Aquatic Centre in taking a 39-point victory.

Tyler Best was dominant for the Blasters, pouring in 29 points as he couldn’t be stopped on the offensive end, while William Stewart was a handy foil, adding 15 points. Cooper York added 14, while Rhylee Leighton scored 10.

It was a different story in the women’s competition, with Wallan and Seymour both outclassed on the weekend.

Seymour was held to just 14 points in three quarters, before eventually losing 35-63 to the Albury Cougars.

The Cougars’ defensive play was telling, only letting its guard down in the last term.

Chloe Dimkopoulos scored 13 points for Seymour, while Isla Whitford added 10 points.

Wallan kept up with Wodonga for a half, before a 24-8 third term was telling in Wodonga taking an 83-54 victory.

The Panthers fought hard, led by Carley Cranston who scored 18 points in defeat, while Melissa Buckley scored eight points.

Wallan will have a double-header this weekend against Myrtleford and Wodonga away from home, while Seymour’s men will have a bye. The Blasters’ women will head to Wodonga on Saturday night.
