Following their fabulous Avenue Q production, the Seymour Performers Workshop (SPW) held auditions for their end of year musical Dogfight. Final rehearsals are underway with opening night on Friday, November 9 at the Seymour College Arts Centre.

The SPW Dogfight cast of 16 was announced in June and includes a mix of veteran and emerging talent, including the male lead role of Corporal Eddie Birdlace played by Charlie Mustoe, while the female lead role of Rose Fenny is played by Laura Hogan.
Ms Hogan also played the lead role in the SPW production as Vivienne in Legally Blonde.
Dogfight is based on the 1991 Warner Brothers film and has since been adapted for the stage. The musical performance will take the audience on a romantic and heartbreaking journey staged during the Vietnam War, and it begins with a brash group of young marines who play a cruel trick on young ladies to win a bet.
When the marines learn they have one more night of freedom before returning to the conflict, they decide to play up, and when Eddie sees a shy waitress in a diner quietly playing her guitar, he invites her on a date.
Rose Fenny has no idea that Eddie and his marine mates-Sergeant, Gibbs, Fector, and Stevens have cruel intentions.
Directors Madeleine Lezon and Lucy Pennington are excited to bring this production to the stage, along with 2022 SPW Honorary Life Member Paul Lejins who will be making sure everyone’s pitch is perfect.
Choreographer Kimberley Read is running the cast through their final moves in the lead up to opening night, and the production team are working on setting the scenes for San Francisco in 1963.
