THE future of JJ Clancy Reserve’s iconic entrance wall has been decided, with a compromise helping keep some of the original bricks from yesteryear, but also encompassing a safer entry to the venue.
The original vote before a meeting in June was resolved in favour of making changes, 4-2, but how the wall would be utilised in terms of widening the entrance off Kellys Lane became a sticking point, given the heritage of the design.
However, a meeting with the Committee of Management at JJ Clancy Reserve on Wednesday night saw a compromise passed, with a metal gate on top of the old brick gate that was commissioned in the 1980s.
The old ticket boxes will be taken down, in renderings seen and published by The North Central Review, while the safety of pedestrians and vehicles entering and exiting the ground will be improved through widening the entrance points.
