Earlier this month, Wandong’s Three Brushes Studio presented its fourth annual art show, featuring an impressive 165 pieces on display.

The show was a vibrant celebration of creativity and community, drawing over 230 visitors to admire artwork created by individuals ranging from 6 years old to adults.

Visitors were treated to raffles and a colouring competition, as well as a sausage sizzle from the Wandong Heathcote Junction Community Group, who dedicated their time to the much-loved show.

Prizes, encouragement awards, and other merits were presented on the day to the studio’s students.

Three Brushes Studio Owner Sharon Delaney said she was ‘Completely chuffed,’ with the amount of support from the community.

Dusty, 11 , won Most Original in the 11-14 year category.
Blake, 6, won Most Fun artwork in the 6 years and under category.

“I have to pinch myself because this is what I get to do as a job, and this is their day to shine,” she said.

“Some of these children aren’t sporty, they’re more artsy, so they don’t have an awards day, they don’t have a trophy day, they’re never going to win best and fairest, but this is their day where they go ‘Look at my art hanging up, look at how good it is,’ … so this is their day.

“I think the art is getting better … they’re putting more work into their pieces, they’re thinking outside the box, they’re being a little bit more creative than past years.”

A new category for this year’s show was the model mosaic display, where students showcased their best mosaic artwork in all shapes and sizes.

Banjo, 8, won Most Colourful in the 7-8 years category.

Ms Delaney said it was an opportunity for students who are more hands-on to get involved.

“The children who are more hands on, we’ve got a lot of autistic kids who are tactile, so they like to do clay … this is their opportunity to put in something that’s tactile … that they’ve made,” she said.

Ms Delaney thanked all her sponsors and volunteers who contributed to the big day.
