The new Ein Karem Learning Centre at the Doreen campus of Marymede Catholic College opened last week, and hopes to improve student educational outcomes.
Member for McEwen Rob Mitchell opened the new learning centre, delivered by the Federal Government’s funding of $5 million via the Capital Grants Program.
Mr Mitchell said a lot of work went into the project, delivering construction of a new secondary school campus for junior learning, comprising general learning areas, a science, technology, robotics, arts, and collaboration spaces, as well as staff amenities and a soccer pitch.
“These new facilities will provide school staff, teachers, and students at Marymede Catholic College – Doreen Campus with better, more modern spaces in which to work, teach, and learn,” he said.
“The Australian Government is committed to providing all schools with appropriate funding so that all students, including those in Marymede Catholic College – Doreen Campus, Doreen, get the best possible education.”
Mr Mitchell said the new facilities would benefit both current and future students.
“The teachers, staff, and students at Marymede Catholic College – Doreen Campus have built a strong and positive school community, and these new facilities will further enhance our local educational opportunities,” he said.
“Our government strongly believes in providing the best possible resources so that local students can realise their potential and develop the skills they need to go on to further study or to find a job.”
