IN the midst of the continuing four-bin discussion across the Mitchell Shire, The Nationals say, if elected in November, the four-bin requirement would be scrapped, removing the glass recycling bin. State Member for Euroa Annabelle Cleeland said regional Victorian families should have the choice of waste system. “Regional communities know what works best for their local area,” she said.
“Labor’s mandatory four-bin policy would force councils and ratepayers to pay for additional bins, collection services and infrastructure, with many families ultimately footing the bill through higher rates.” Ms Cleeland said this was another cost being loaded onto Victorian families. “Victorians are doing the right thing when it comes to recycling, but they should not be forced into a system that adds complexity and cost without clear benefits,” she said. “The Nationals believes local councils should have the freedom to make decisions that suit their communities.
