The Seymour Lions hosted Kyabram Bombers at home for Round Five of the Goulburn Valley League Seniors game on Saturday and Seymour was delighted to list former club player David Mundy in its team. He played 376 Australian Football League Games (AFL).
Kyabram had a 39-point lead at the end of the first term.
“We allowed the Bombers to get an early run on. Our first half was very poor, but credit to our boys, we bounced back.” Said Captain Jack Murphy.
Nathan Beattie was prolific around the contest as were Lachlan Waite and Dylan Scopel in defence.
Former AFL player David Mundy kicked two in a row heading into the break.
Jay Eager lifted in the ruck in the final quarter pushing the Lions forward and kicking four unanswered goals for a nail-biting finish. 12.8 (80) to 13.8 (86).
Jack Murphy from the leadership team said, “On a real positive note, it was outstanding to welcome back David Mundy for a game in our Lions colours. The boys were rapt to play alongside such footballing royalty.”
The Fremantle Lions recruited Mundy in 2003
“The club, the town and the community all thrived off of his appearance on Saturday, we couldn’t thank him enough for coming back to play for his local club”. Continued Mr Murphy of its Leadership Team.
