Detectives from the Illicit Firearms Squad have charged a Heathcote Junction man and seized an imitation gun and firearm parts as part of an investigation into the alleged manufacture of unregistered firearms in regional Victoria.
A warrant was executed last Thursday at a residential property in Heathcote Junction, and a 31-year-old man was arrested.
During a search of his property, police located a range of tools and equipment, including a stock and barrel for a long arm, an imitation longarm, loose ammunition, a wooden grip and stock for a firearm, and information on firearm manufacturing.
Detectives also located small quantities of cannabis and methylamphetamine, along with unidentified chemicals.
The man was interviewed and subsequently charged with possessing parts to manufacture firearms, non-prohibited person possess firearm, possess cartridge ammunition, and possess drug of dependence.
He has been bailed to appear at Seymour Magistrates’ Court on November 14.
